CARREON: After being part of two Narnia films, can you reflect on how being part of the franchise has changed you and your career?

BARNES: I think without wanting to get too comparative and too sickly sweet about it, I think the Caspian journey probably has mirrored my own in a way. Certainly my own journey has helped inform my journey as this character when in the first film Prince Caspian was ambivalent about the situations he found himself in. He was very uncomfortable with the attention. He didn’t want to be a lead. He just wanted to be left alone. He didn’t really understand everything that was swirling around him. I think that very much explained my sort of condition when I went into filming Prince Caspian. With this one, I’ve had three or four other films shot in between. Certainly I’ve grown in confidence in terms of being on a set and being around other actors and I think that’s absolutely helped in terms of my being able to bark commands at my navy aboard The Dawn Treader.
